Hopkinsville Community College Associate Degree Nursing Program prepares graduates for a challenging career in health care. A degree in nursing offers a wide array of opportunities that can lead to career advancement in acute and chronic care of patients. The goals of nursing education at HCC are to develop the ability in graduates to enhance human flourishing, demonstrate sound nursing judgment, develop professional identity and possess a spirit of inquiry in order to improve patient outcomes.

Program Requirements

To be eligible for admission to the RN or PN Program, the below requirements must be met.

  • Complete Pre-requisite courses - See above links for the Admission Packet and Curriculum Requirements for specific courses for each program
  • Have an active status on a state nurse aide registry - This would show current certification as a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA)
    • For information on Nurse Aide courses offered at HCC, please visit our Nurse Aide page.
  • Submit ACT scores to the HCC Admissions and Records office
    • RN Eligibility Requirement:  ACT composite score of 20 or higher
    • PN Eligibility Requirement:  ACT composite score of 18 or higher
  • Submit NLN Pre-Admission Exam (PAX-RN) scores to the HCC Nursing Department
    • RN Eligibility Requirement:  PAX-RN composite score of 111 or higher
    • PN Eligibility Requirement:  PAX-PN composite score of 99 or higher
  • Attend a Pre-Admission Conference (PAC) - Nursing applications distributed at this session
  • Submit a Nursing application by May 15 for Fall Admission and by October 30 for Spring Admission
  • Complete all HCC admission procedures, including the submission of official transcripts from any college where credit was received

**Pre-Admission Conference Dates for applicants interested in FALL 2017 admission to the RN Program**

            Date:  Friday, March 17, 2017 
            Place:  Hopkinsville campus, Technology Center room 215 
            Time:  10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

            Date:  Friday, March 31, 2017
            Place:  Fort Campbell campus, Army Education Center, Auditorium                
            Time:  10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

            Date:  Friday, April 21, 2017
            Place:  Hopkinsville campus, Technology Center room 215
            Time:  1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Pre-registration is not required.  Attendance at only one session is required.

  • Please bring a pen/pencil to the session.
  • If you already have a certification as a Nurse Aide, please bring a copy of your current (non-expired) Nurse Aide registry certification to include with your application.
  • If you are a LPN, please bring a copy of your active license to include with your application.

For the Fall 2017 admission cycle, applications will be accepted for the Registered Nursing and LPN To RN Bridge programs.
The next application cycle for the Practical Nursing program will be for Fall 2018.  Details on PN application availability will be released in early 2018.


Information About Pre-Admission Exam (PAX-RN)

Hopkinsville Community College is a testing facility for the National League for Nursing's Pre-Admission Exam (PAX-RN).  Please click the below link for information about the current version of the PAX-RN exam, which was released March 1, 2016.

  • PAX-RN must be taken prior to the application deadline for the admission cycle for which you are applying.

  • Number of seats per exam session are limited.

  • Minimum scores for eligibility:

    • RN Program and LPN To RN Bridge - composite of 111 or higher

    • PN Program - composite of 99 or higher
